Our current membership boasts regional and national Nova Scotian songwriters, musicians, agents, managers, promoters, distributors, record retailers, record companies, studios, radio stations, associations, lawyers, graphic designers, accountants and more.


Access to our web directory - Get access to the "movers and shakers" in the Nova Scotia music industry and beyond. A full directory is available online.

Access to the Michael Ardenne Resource CenterOur office is your office. Use our computers 4 Macs, 1 PC or bring your own and connect to our wireless internet. We have a colour printer/copier, fax and scanner. If you want to copy posters for gigs, black and white copies are free (up to 50 copies) and colour copies are only $0.50.

Business referrals - Many calls come into the office looking for bands, promoters, agents etc. Being a member of Music Nova Scotia may put money in your pocket. It is the policy of Music Nova Scotia to search our membership database first for business referrals. Make sure your profile includes key words the public could be searching for!

Create your Own Webpage - Having a presence on the web has just been made easier. Once you become a member, Music Nova Scotia will dedicate a page on our website just for you. Use your imagination and develop a page to promote your product. Don’t forget to load up an MP3 file so the buyers can hear your music!

E-mail marketing network - Once you are a member, you will have access to our e-mail marketing network. This will allow you to promote your music, your events, your band and/or your organization to thousands of industry professionals throughout Nova Scotia, nationally and internationally.

FACTOR Funding Support – Music Nova Scotia is the official representative for FACTOR, Canada’s leading funding body for music. Our staff is available to guide you through the funding application, and provide you with up to date information on program changes, applications and deadlines. Industry EducationMusic Nova Scotia has a number of workshops and seminars each year and also provides consultations on a variety of music business topics. We tailor the needs of our members to industry realities. Notice of these workshops and seminars will be sent through email and posted on our website.  Educational resources are available online through our website at > Education.  Simply login with your username and password and explore the documents and videos uploaded online.  Members are welcome to book consultations with our staff to help career-building. Music Nova Scotia Awards - Join us as we honour and celebrate our artist and industry professionals. The Music Nova Scotia Music Awards are voted on by the membership of Music Nova Scotia. By the way, you cannot be nominated unless you are a member! Sign up today.

Music Nova Scotia Newsletter- Our daily newsletter is a "must read" in the industry. Submit stories, member news, showdates and tour schedules. Read insightful articles on the ins and outs of the industry.  To submit a news item to daily newsletter: Email your music-related event, notice or story to by noon the day before you would like it posted. Please be sure the word "newsletter" appears somewhere in the subject line of the email. (There are no newsletters sent on weekends or holidays.) Please keep the notice brief and with as little formatting as possible (please no PDFs). All entries will be reformatted to fit our newsletter. If you want the notice to run more than once, you must resubmit on the days you wish it to run. Any accompanying photo or graphic MUST be below 500 kbs and in jpeg format.

Networking Opportunities - Nova Scotia Music Week and Educational Seminars  are just part of Music Nova Scotia' networking events. This is where you connect with other artists, promoters, venue owners and media.

Showcase OpportunitiesMusic Nova Scotia Showcases are held throughout the year and all over the world! We have showcased Nova Scotian artists everywhere from a navy ship in Ireland to South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Opportunities to showcase will be posted through email and on our website. As a member, you can apply for some of these opportunities! These advertised showcasing opportunities are juried by your peers, who are chosen to be objective and knowledgeable. 

Voting - Your membership entitles you to vote! Voting takes place twice a year for the Board of Directors Election in the spring and the Music Nova Scotia Awards in the fall.  One vote is given per individual, band, venue, small business memberships and two votes per non-profit or corporate membership. The individual who signed up for the membership will be automatically considered the first voting member, unless otherwise stated. Please notify us of your voting member(s) through The voting members MUST be part of the band/group/association membership.

Students do not have voting rights and are not eligible for performance opportunities. A membership upgrade is required for showcase eligibility. Bands cannot hold student memberships.

Music Nova Scotia holds elections every year for empty spots on the board.  If you are interested in running for the board, please contact  Voting takes place before the Annual General Meeting online via votenet and members receive an individual login for voting. We encourage you to attend our Annual General Meeting held every June.  

We also encourage you to attend and vote for Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week, a celebration of our provincial music industry, held every November. The more votes received for our awards show, the more reflective the results will be of our music scene.
