Join us at St. Mark’s Place on Saturday afternoon (July 26th at 7:30pm-9:30pm) for an evening with Brookes and Fiona Diamond, part of St. Mark’s Speaker Series.

Brookes Diamond Productions is Atlantic Canada's most recognized entertainment production company. The company is producer and creator of the hit musical production DRUM! which has been touring internationally since 2004.

Since 1971, Brookes Diamond has been one of Atlantic Canada's leading entertainment producer/promoters of concerts, theatre shows, trade shows and special events. Among many awards and citations including Canadian Manager of the Year, he has also received ECMA Industry Builder Award; MIANS Best Event Producer and Best Promoter; and ECMA Industry Person of the Year. Brookes managed the careers of Ryan’s Fancy, Rita MacNeil, Sharon, Lois, and Bram, and Bruce Guthro and has produced and promoted shows from the Sydney Opera House to Broadway. Brookes is creator and producer of Nova Scotia’s unique musical spectacular, DRUM!

Fiona has been a principal in Brookes Diamond Productions since its incorporation in 1977. In that capacity, she has been shown producer, concert promoter, project manager, and marketing director. She created and founded the nationally-televised Ha!ifax Comedy Festival, which she sold in 2007, and promotes many East Coast tours such as Lord of the Dance, Gordon Lightfoot, The Barra MacNeils, and Bruce Cockburn. She recently brought in Jerry Seinfeld for the QEII Foundation fundraiser. She also manages comedian Bette MacDonald. Fiona was Event Chair for the 1998 10th Anniversary of the ECMA's in Halifax, served four years on the Executive of the Neptune Theatre Foundation Board; was an original Board Member of the Life Network in Toronto, and presently sits on the CAFÉ Nova Scotia Board.

Fiona is co-producer and director of marketing for Nova Scotia’s spectacular musical production, DRUM!

ECMA Nominated (Jazz Recording of the Year) Bassist and Bandleader Willem Paynter is leading the charge putting Halifax on the map. Winner of the Coast’s “Best Of Jazz Artist” in 2016 (GOLD) and 2017 (BRONZE), Willem has played a central role in expanding the Halifax jazz music scene. His bi-weekly engagement at Obladee Wine Bar showcases the best in Canadian talent, with bands that have included Mike Murley, Steve Amirault, André LeRoux, Kenji Omae, Alison Young and countless other amazing jazz musicians. His debut EP “City Grit” was nominated for Jazz Recording of the Year by Music Nova Scotia, and his most recent release, “Wise Guy”, is nominated for the 2018 East Coast Music Award for Jazz Recording of the Year.

Ally Fiola has been working hard for most of the winter and spring on her debut jazz album, entitled "Dreaming Away". The album consists of mainly original music, inspired by hard bop and New Orleans brass band.

The album was recorded with the help of her quintet, The Next Quest, at the illustrious Sonic Temple in Halifax NS. This project wouldn't have been possible without the Dream Hughie Award, and the musicians who recorded with her.

The release show will be at Lion & Bright on July 26th at 8:30pm, Cover is $10, and CDs will be available for $5.

Joining Ally (saxophone/vocals) are: Dan Corbett (trombone). Addison Sowery-Quinn (sousaphone), Paul Baker (guitar), Tom Cuming (drums).
