The 10th Anniversary Gordie Sampson Songcamp Show added to #NSMW Lineup

Ten years ago, the launch of The Gordie Sampson Songcamp, created a new and unique Nova Scotian songwriting experience – one that brought together exceptional and established songwriters from Canada and beyond, to work with Nova Scotia’s young and up-and-coming writers.

For the past 10 years, Grammy Award winner Gordie Sampson has returned to Cape Breton each summer, to host and participate in a week long immersive songwriting camp, with the exclusive goal of helping young artists develop a strong voice and build collaborative writing skills that would allow them to contribute to the international songwriting industry.

This November Nova Scotia Music Week and the Cape Breton Music Cooperative are honoured to be presenting The 10th Anniversary Gordie Sampson Songcamp Show.

With Gordie Sampson as the host, he will shine the spotlight on eight of the incredible song camp participants from the last decade. The show will include performances by Cameron Nickerson, Carleton Stone, Dave Sampson, Kayleigh O’Connor, Makayla Lynn, Maura Whitman, and Willie Stratton, with Gordie Sampson also playing some of the songs he's best known for.

The 10th Anniversary Gordie Sampson Songcamp Show presented by CBMIC will be held
at the First United Church (711 Prince St, Truro, NS) - Saturday, November 9th at 2:00pm, doors at 1:30pm. This is an all-ages dry event.

This show is presented by CBMIC. The Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative (CBMIC) is a not-for-profit organization developed to grow and support Cape Breton’s music industry.

About Gordie Sampson

Gordie Sampson is a whirlwind of musical activity. A Grammy award-winning songwriter, he resides and writes in Nashville where his songs have been covered by Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Little Big Town and Rascal Flatts – to name just a few. He heads back home to Canada to spend time with family and friends in his beloved Cape Breton during the summer and to perform in the Maritimes, where enthusiastic audiences welcome him, year after year. Despite the rarity of his Canadian concerts, Sampson’s music continues to win awards and garner airplay.

In 2010, Gordie started The Gordie Sampson Songcamp to give young songwriters the opportunity to develop their songwriting skills, build relationships with their peers, and promote learning in pursuit of artistic excellence.

A brilliant writer, an innovative producer, a dynamic on-stage presence, and now a mentor to emerging writers, Gordie’s musical genius and generosity is applauded by audiences and industry players alike.
