Music Nova Scotia Bids Farewell to Long-Time Executive Director Scott Long

Lisa Stitt Appointed Interim Executive Director.  

After ten years of service, Music Nova Scotia announces the departure of Scott Long as Executive Director, effective February 27th, 2019. Long has accepted the position of Managing Director/Executive Producer of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo

Under Long’s leadership, Music Nova Scotia has become one of the largest and most successful provincial music industry associations in Canada. During his tenure, Long established Music Nova Scotia as an internationally recognized brand and trusted partner, and has been paramount in providing a global stage for Nova Scotia music. 

“On behalf of the board of directors, membership and staff of Music Nova Scotia, I would like to wish Scott the very best of good fortune in his new adventure and thank him for his service to all things musical in our province”, says Brian Doherty, President of Music Nova Scotia.

Lisa Stitt, the current Music Nova Scotia Member Relations/Operations Manager has accepted the position of Interim Executive Director, until such time as the board selects a new Executive Director. According to Doherty, “Lisa has the necessary experience in the day to day operations of Music Nova Scotia, and has the full confidence of the Board in her ability to carry out the duties required to execute the important work of the organization.”

“I would like to extend my most sincere thank you to the board and staff of Music Nova Scotia for all of the guidance and support over the last ten years”, says Long, “It has been a tremendous pleasure to serve the membership of Music Nova Scotia. Working with some of the best musicians and industry professionals in the world made my job easy. I will miss working with such great talent but I am looking forward to new challenges and exciting opportunities with the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.”

Long has played a crucial role in the development and success of the organization, and we’re eternally grateful for his dedication, passion, and enthusiasm. We look forward to following the success of Long’s career, and are hopeful and excited for the next chapter of Music Nova Scotia, as we continue to support our members and the Nova Scotia music community.
