The Mellotones to Play Closing Reception

Women in Music and urban music genres will be in the spotlight during the Nova Scotia Music Week 2017 conference. The conference will also explore the UK market and the opportunities it holds for Nova Scotian musicians. Nova Scotia Music Week 2017 will take place in Truro from November 2-5.

The Women in Music conference programming will celebrate the successes and examine the challenges faced by women in the music industry. It will provide the opportunity to network, participate in mentorships, and hear from some of the most influential women in the international music industry.

Men are encouraged to attend the panels and key discussions. One-on-one mentoring sessions are exclusive to the female and female identifying community.

Urban music genres have been on the radars of millions of musicians and fans alike for decades, but despite the massive international commercial reach and success, artists, companies and entrepreneurs in the urban genres are often underrepresented when it comes to institutionalized music industry support and allocation of resources.
The NSMW spotlight on urban genres is designed to better serve the urban music community and to facilitate the growth of urban music in Nova Scotia.

The Urban Genre Spotlight will give Nova Scotia’s up and coming urban artists the chance to learn about how to run a successful hip-hop career, beat production, and network with hip-hop festival buyers from around the world.
