Nova Scotia Music Week Women in Music Conference Program - First Wave of International Guest Delegates Announced

(July 25, 2017, Halifax, NS)  Women working in the music business will be the centre of attention during Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW) this November 2-5 in Truro, Nova Scotia.  The 20th annual music festival announced today a conference program track dedicated specifically to women and female identifying people entitled Women in Music (WIM). The WIM program will celebrate the successes and examine the challenges faced by women in the music industry.
 
Women In Music will give women and female identifying people the opportunity to network with key industry figures and to hear from some of the music industry’s most influential women, including: Louisa Rainbird (The Music Sales Group), Alison Lamb (Prolifica), Sofia Ilyas (FLOAT PR), Vivian Barclay (Warner/Chappell Music), Stefanie Purificati (United Talent Agency), Vanessa Cito (Coalition), Steph Marziano (Producer/Mixer) and many more.
 
The WIM program includes, peer to peer mentoring, one-on-one sessions with guest industry professionals along with workshops in production, social media, artist development and public speaking and pitching for women. WIM will also address conversations on building safe spaces, diversity, inclusiveness and how to ensure our female artists and industry professionals are numerous and influential on the world stage. 
 
Men are  encouraged to attend the panels and key discussions. One-on-one mentoring sessions are exclusive to the female and female identifying community. 
 
The first wave of international guest delegates were also announced today with the United Kingdom being the export focus territory this year. To date, a total of 29 guest delegates have been confirmed to attend with 17 attending from the UK. Other delegates will be attending from Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia, the USA and across Canada.
