Décota McNamara is an up and coming East Coast musician that will be sure to get your hands
clapping and your feet stomping. Performing at venues ranging from the East Coast Music Awards, to small cafés such as the Cape Breton Fudge Company, Décota is breaking onto the East Coast music scene with zest, passion, and enthusiasm. Décota is influenced by many East Coast talents, such as J.P Cormier, Dave Gunning, and Gordie Sampson. His love of East Coast music is what fuels his love for singing/song-writing.
With his intricate mix of Celtic Folk, Blues, and Light Rock music, Décota moves effortlessly between acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, mandolin, and dobro, while entertaining the crowd with his dynamic personality. What really distinguishes Décota is his incredible ear, he can listen and adapt his style of music to play with any performer. This also ensures that each performance will bring something new to the table!
Décota has performed all across Canada, for example: Stanfest (Canso, NS), The Carleton (Halifax, NS), C’est Quoi? (Toronto, ON), Acoustic Grill (Picton, ON), Ironwood (Calgary, AB), and the East Coast Music Awards. He has done live performances on radio stations across the country, was a semi finalist on CMT’s “Big in a Small Town”, and has been covered in magazines such as “Penguin Eggs” and “Raz Mataz.” He has also had the opportunity to play alongside and learn from many of his role models and music idols. He has shared the stage with extraordinary East Coast and international talent such as Gordie Sampson, Matt Andersen, Ashley MacIsaac, Dave Gunning, and Natalie MacMaster – just to name a few.
Décota is always giving back to the community by engaging youth in music and by giving them an opportunity to share their musical interests. He has been the host of a number of different Open Mics, he judged/coached for “The Next Big Thing” High School Talent Competition and the NSCC Idol, he performs at various community fundraisers and benefits, and he is always willing to lend his talents to put a smile on people’s faces.
Décota is a rising star in the East Coast music industry and will be a name you should keep your eyes and ears open for. His unique guitar playing and soulful lyrics keep you on the edge of your seat in pure musical enjoyment.
