Troy Alistair Prepares to Release Debut Genre-Bending Album

posted by Troy Alistair on Wednesday January 20

East coast alternative rock band Troy Alistair announces the release of their long-awaited debut album, bringing an eclectic blend of genres to a classic east coast rock sound. Their self-titled record will be available everywhere on January 29th, 2021.

Along with the album launch, Troy Alistair will be hosting an intimate release party (following all COVID-19 protocols) at The Carleton in Halifax, NS with local band Sleepy Kicks on January 29th at 7PM. This event is now sold out, but a second night has just been announced for Thursday, January 28th and tickets are on sale now at thecarleton.ca. They are offering “early access” free direct download links to anyone who purchases an advance ticket to the event.

This record is a compilation of songs written, recorded, and produced by frontman, Taran Guest, as a reminder to stand up for what you believe in, and to move on from things in life that are holding you back. You will hear the decorations of tasty licks from life-long friend Maxwell Cranford on the lead guitar, the melodic low end from Adam Bourque on the Bass, and the blended styles from the several drummers along the journey including Brandon Campbell, Timm Reinhardt, and Logan Burke. The record was mixed by Thomas Stajcer at New Scotland Yard, and mastered by J. LaPointe at Archive Mastering in Dartmouth, NS.

This 12-track album traverses across a uniquely distinct blend of genres, pulling from the different musical stages of Taran’s life with influences in Rock, Hip-Hop/Rap, Pop, Latin, Reggae, Celtic, and Dance genres. A primary blend of rock and rap is reminiscent of a modern day Linkin Park, or The Police, with flourishes of pop hooks and catchy melodies to create a timeless package. While each song varies in style, they all circle back to the universal themes of finding happiness, self-improvement, having fun, and not taking yourself too seriously.

“Mixing the classic east coast riff-rock sound with some rap, the track (Jump the Gun) is upbeat and dance-worthy, fitting perfectly with the band’s aim to just have fun..” - The East
