Newly emerging on the Nova Scotia music scene, Kim Joy Lake recently announced the release of her debut album, Flesh and Bone.  Drawing from an eclectic background, her alt-folk songs are catchy and contemplative, inviting listeners to pause and reflect on the threads tying us all together.

Recorded at Ocean Floor Recording in Halifax, NS and co-produced with Charles Austin and Jesse Griffith, Flesh and Bone is a celebration of connection and finding one’s place in the world. The album features the unmatched talent of Jesse Griffith (Wandarian) on electric guitar, pedal steel, and dobro, Gina Burgess (Gypsophlia and The Jerry Cans) on violin, Jordan Murphy (Walrus) on drums, and Tony Wood on bass and backup vocals.  Special guest Tom Helliwell (Jaunt) adds his unique voice and rich vocal harmonies on "For Better or Worse."  The album was mixed with Thomas Stajcer and AJ Boutilier at New Scotland Yard in Dartmouth NS, and mastered by Jamie Sitar at Outta Town Sound in Winnipeg, MB.

The 11-song collection crosses genres, touching on folk, rock, indie, and country influences.  With each song bringing a different feel from the one before, Flesh and Bone has something for everyone.  Now available on all streaming platforms, the record can also be found on Bandcamp (www.kimjoylake.bandcamp.com), and in person at The Spoke & Note (Windsor, NS) and Retro Runway Fashions (Wolfville, NS).
