Blue Spirits

Fronted by trumpeter/vocalist Paul St-Amand, Blue Spirits sounds like an updated spin on Chet Baker, blending cool jazz, bop, blues, funk, and hip hop into a soulful stew. Formed in 2016, the band has been active on the Halifax jazz circuit, collaborating with artists like Andrew Jackson, Silvio Pupo, Zoe Leger, and Carolyn Curry. In addition to skillful interpretations of standards, Blue Spirits boasts a growing repertoire of exciting original compositions.

Blue Spirits' debut album 'Liquid Courage' was recorded at New Scotland Yard Studio and released June 30, 2017. The album scored a Music Nova Scotia Award nomination for Jazz Recording of the Year. Blue Spirits is also a finalist for Favourite Jazz Artist and Favourite New Artist in The Coast's 2017 Best of Halifax Poll.
