CCMA Jiffy Lube FanFest Performance Contest

(June 26, 2013 Halifax, NS) Calling all Nova Scotian country artists! Music Nova Scotia is running a contest in tandem with the Canadian Country Music Association, giving one Canadian country artist/act the opportunity to perform at the Jiffy Lube Fanfest during this year’s Country Music Week in Edmonton, Alberta. 
 
How it works:
Music Nova Scotia, along with the eight other provincial music associations will be accepting submissions to qualify for the Jiffy Lube Fanfest Performance Contest. Each association will then select one artist/act to be entered in a national Canadian Country Music Association Facebook contest where fans are able to vote on the artist they would like to see perform at the Jiffy Lube Fanfest. The national Facebook contest will open on July 29, 2013 and close on August 5, 2013. The winner will be announced on August 9, 2013.
 
What the National Contest winner receives:
  • A performance spot at Jiffy Lube FanFest Edmonton, Alberta
  • A free one year CCMA membership
  • A free one year membership to the association the winner qualified
  • One complimentary Full Delegate Registration to Country Music Week in Edmonton, AB
  • One $450.00 honorarium from Radio Starmaker Fund
  • One hotel room for three night accommodation (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at the Courtyard by Marriot in Edmonton
  • Transportation (economy class) to and from hometown to Edmonton (to a maximum $1,000 Cdn)
 
Note: In the case that the winner is a duo or band, the CCMA will review the prize package on a case by case basis.
 
Submissions:
Acts who are interested in representing their province in this National Contest are required to fill out an application by clicking here. Please read the full rules and regulations found on the application page before applying. Submissions will be accepted no later than July 10, 2013.

From the Kitchen to the Casino: Kitchen Party Thursdays

(June 25, 2013 Halifax, NS) Summer has finally arrived and with it comes the second season of Kitchen Party Thursdays at Casino Nova Scotia. The spotlight is on Nova Scotia’s Celtic and Traditional music scenes, bringing a down-home style kitchen party to the Casino’s Habourfront Lounge every Thursday this summer. In an up close and personal setting, this event offers the opportunity to experience the best in traditional Nova Scotian music.
 
Kitchen Party Thursdays kicks off on July 4th with The Worry Birds and Glenn Graham. Each week the show will feature top notch Nova Scotian artists performing the music Nova Scotia is famous for. Showtime is 7:00 PM and admission is FREE!

Long haired, bearded male extras needed for the movie Lizzie Borden being shot in Halifax

Curve Casting is looking for long haired, bearded males 19 and older for extra work on the movie "Lizzie Borden"  this Friday, June 28th.  They are preferably looking for men with hair long enough to be styled and beards if possible.
