Take It To The Tiki Battle Begins January 3rd, 2014 at Casino Nova Scotia

Presented by Casino Nova Scotia, Lite 92.9 and Delta Hotels and Resorts, twelve bands will battle in January to win a spot on the Music Nova Scotia Tiki stage at Canadian Music Week in May 2014.  
Amanda Riley, Floodland and Matthew Pickup & The Movement launch the first round of the
Take it to the Tiki Battle on January 3, 2014 in the Harbourfront Lounge at Casino Nova Scotia.  A panel of Nova Scotia music industry professionals will determine the winners of each round, including the grand prize winner.
The winner of the final round will receive a prize package consisting of:
  • Showcasing performance on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at The Rivoli during Canadian Music Week
  • Canadian Music Week 2014 Delegate Passes for the performers
  • 1 night hotel accommodations in Toronto (Saturday, May 10)
  • Travel assistance cash prize of $1800
Runner-up prizes for the semi-finalists consisting of:
  • 1st runner-up: cash prize of $600
  • 2nd runner-up: cash prize of $400
  • 3rd runner-up: cash prize of $200

Music Nova Scotia Presents Wintersleep, In-Flight Safety and Aqua Alta

(Halifax, NS) Juno Award winners Wintersleep return home to Halifax Saturday, February 1st to play the Marquee Ballroom. Halifax indie rock darlings In-Flight Safety and Aqua Alta, the happy atmospheric pop side project of Jenn Grant, Graeme Campbell and Charles Austin, will open the show.
The show is presented by Music Nova Scotia in partnership with Molson Canadian, Delta Hotels and Resorts and The Coast and will support the opening of the new Music Nova Scotia headquarters currently under construction on Gottingen Street. Doors will open at 8:00 PM with a 9:00 PM start.

Debut Atlantic is hiring a Program Officer

Debut Atlantic seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the organization as Program Officer (average of 25-30 hours/week)  at our office in Halifax.
Working closely with the Executive Director in a broad range of marketing, administrative, and tour related duties, the Program Officer works to fulfill Debut’s mandate of promoting classical music in the Atlantic Region. This position plays a large part in identifying and mentoring emerging Canadian artists and making them available to Atlantic Canadian Presenters and their audiences, and to music educators, to excite and inspire their students.
The Program Officer will be expected to be able to interact professionally with a wide variety of personalities to get the work accomplished. It is essential that the Officer be well organized and enjoy being a detail-minded multi-tasker.
