"Maritimes to Memphis" International Blues Challenge Competition

Submissions are now open for the inaugural edition of the East Coast Blues 
Society "Maritimes to Memphis" International Blues Challenge competition.
All Blues bands from The Maritimes are eligible to compete.
Submission deadline is Midnight Wednesday September 8th, 2013
Winning band and solo/duo act from the local competition will compete in 
Memphis, TN in January 2014 for prizes and recognition.
What is the IBC?
The world's largest gathering of Blues acts representing an international 
search by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations for the 
Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to take their act to the 
international stage.
The IBC is a judged "Battle of the Bands" in which 
competitors take the stage and play a short set for a panel of judges. The 
acts are judged based on an established set of criteria. Each Affiliate of 
The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and solo/duo act to 
represent the organization at the IBC in Memphis, TN. Affiliates are 
required to stage a regional preliminary IBC competition, where the winner 
of that competition earns the right to represent the Affiliate at the 
Memphis international competition.
In 2013, 125 bands and 80 solo/duo acts 
entered, filling the clubs up and down Beale Street for the quarter-finals 
on Wednesday and Thursday, the semi-finals on Friday and the finals at the 
Orpheum Theater on Saturday. The 2014 International Blues Challenge will be 
the 30th year of Blues musicians from around the world competing for cash, 
prizes, and industry recognition.

Women in Film and Television Atlantic accepting applications for an Event Planner/Communications Coordinator

Women in Film and Television Atlantic is currently accepting applications for a Women Making Waves Event Planner/Communications Coordinator. To be eligible, you must qualify for the Job Creation Partnership program.
The WMW Event Planning/Communications Coordinator is responsible for the planning and coordination of, as well as the follow-up for the annual WIFT-ATLANTIC conference Women Making Waves. The candidate will work with the WIFT-Atlantic Board to develop, promote and produce the conference.  The candidate will be responsible for program development, proposal writing, budgeting, communications, and overall coordination of all activities for the conference. Good written and verbal communication skills, initiative, strong organizational skills with an attention to detail are assets as well as having an aptitude for programs such as Word, Excel and some knowledge of social media platforms.  
Eligibility Information
This position is a Job Creation Partnership. To be eligible, you must be unemployed and show that you need work experience to get hired. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada. As well, you must meet one of the following conditions:
Have a current Employment Insurance (EI) claim
Have had an EI claim that ended within the last three years
Have had an EI claim for maternity or parental benefits within the past five years, then remained out of the job market to care for a newborn or newly adopted child, and now want to re-enter the labour force. 
Before you can apply for this Job Creation Partnerships program, you must first meet with an employment assistance service provider. They will assign a case manager to you. The case manager will then see if you qualify for the program and tell you about the various employment services you can access.
