PASSPORT: Music Export Summit Now Taking Applications for 4th Edition of Industry Masterclasses

Program Offers Custom Training and Networking Opportunities for Self-Managed Artists, Artists Managers, and Music Companies from Canada
Treaty 1 Territory, Winnipeg, MB - Applications are now open for a new edition PASSPORT: Music Export Summit. The intensive professional development program is geared at career expansion for artist managers, music companies, and export-ready, self-managed artists in Canada.
Taking place in February 2021, PASSPORT will prepare music entrepreneurs with business skills and product development to help bring Canadian music to the world. PASSPORT is an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals with extensive knowledge and success in preparing artists for international export, and also from their peers. View past participants
The new round of parallel sessions in will take place for artist managers in Winnipeg (February 16-20) and for self-managed artists in Halifax (February 23-27), offering music entrepreneurs real-world knowledge in navigating new export markets to foster success in the global music industry. PASSPORT will shift to an online format if public health restrictions limit travel and group gatherings, with a slight change to the dates: Winnipeg (February 14-24) and Halifax (February 23 - March 3).

MNS Annual General Meeting 2020 Board of Directors Election Results


Four (4) incumbents re-offered and four (4) additional nominations competed for eight (8) seats with terms ending in 2022.

The following individuals have been elected to the Music Nova Scotia Board of Directors:

Dana Beeler

Dena Williams

Kyle Cunjak

Marc Perry - incumbent

They will join the existing board members, Barbara Cameron, Brian Doherty, Israel Ekanem, Matthew Sampson, Meghan Scott, Mike Campbell, Rosanna Burrill, Sarah Atkinson, Tracey Williams, Mike McGuire (Appointed) and Cecil Wright (Appointed).

The executive positions elected for the 2020-2021 year are as follows:

Second Vice President – Dana Beeler

Third Vice President – Meghan Scott

Secretary – Dena Williams

Treasurer – Sarah Atkinson

Music Nova Scotia Funding Update

As mentioned previously, after consultation with the province, industry leaders, and artists we have created two new one-time Investment Programs:

COVID-19 Response Program (available to Artists II, III, and Export Ready Companies)

Songwriter Mentorship Program (available to all Artists)

The guidelines for these programs have been written and we wanted to share them with you so that you can review them and begin to plan your application (should you decide to apply).

Please note:

- The deadline for applications for these programs will be July 15, 2020
- The applications are currently closed; they will be open next week. We will announce when they have opened
- The hyperlinks in the program guidelines are currently dead; they will be working by the time applications open

As these programs are brand new, it is strongly advised that you set up a meeting (via phone or zoom) with the Investment Program Manager, Darryl Smith, to discuss your project and eligibility.
