Alexander and the Great Ones/Heavy Early/Shuteye (album release)

Thursday July 6 to Friday July 7
@ Gus Pub & Grill

Alexander and the Great Ones, Heavy Early, Shuteye live at Gus' Pub & Grill.

Alex MacNeil is a guitarist, songwriter, singer, arranger and noted roving stray from Nova Scotia's industrial northern mainland. As a dedicated sideman and band leader, Alex cut his teeth as a guitarist and singer by working with singer/songwriter Brianna Gosse as well as leading his own quartets and trios all over eastern Canada. Alex is now turning his creativity towards more personal modes of expression with his current project Alexander and The Great Ones which combines his love of the avant-grade with his talent for infectious melody.
Channeling the electiveness of Randy Newman, the confessional tones of Joni Mitchell and swathes of lush orchestration and guitar riffs that crackle to the delight of audiences, Alex is a force of nature when he takes the stage.

Heavy Early is a pop punk/alternative rock band from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada. They have been playing basements, bars, and bowling alleys across the maritime provinces since late 2014. Influenced by bands such as (but not limited to) Chumped, RVIVR, Latterman, and Sonic Youth, their songs are about the misadventures of lost 20-somethings trying to navigate a world that they don't fit into.

**ALBUM RELEASE** Shuteye (Halifax, Nova Scotia) takes elements of indie, folk, shoegaze, emo and post-rock and blends them together like watercolors, painting scenes from memories and dreams and weaves them together to form a tapestry of lush sonic landscapes. Immerse yourself in compelling voices, inquisitive and ethereal guitar stylings, rhythmic basslines, and punctuating drums. Each song will take you on a journey through their dreamy compositions and bring you to places you've never been, always wanted to go, or planned to revisit.
