Spook'n Diesal 2019

Friday June 14 @ East Coast Amateur Boxing Club

Doc MacLean: 45 years ago, Doc MacLean was playing Charlie Patton songs in Son House's living room.  Today, he's a blues vagabond, a traveller writing from the dark side of the highway.  An emotional remapping of contemporary and traditional delta blues.  At one time, Blues Revue Magazine called him the 'Prince of Darkness'.  There is a redemption and an appeal that reaches well beyond borders.  His mostly resophonic, finger style slide guitar is a sonic homage to Patton, House, and big Joe Williams.  Telling songs and singing stories, his songs are a celebration of a life lived fast and large on the blues highway.  People Magazine covered his 2017 African tour calling him a 'beautiful storyteller".  Doc MacLean has played with the who's who of blues: Son House, BB King, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, Colin Linden, Sam Chatman, Canned Heat, Mavis Staples Band, Tom Wait's Band...you don't want to miss this show.

Richard & Somebody's Kids will warm the room with their fun and playful rocking' blues! Richard's unique story-telling and insight to human nature comes from decades of training boxers.  Richard's command of the stage toes the line between old school fighter and insightful music poet.  With a wry sense of humour, he playfully banters with his bandmates and somehow always manages to pull ringside fans into his corner.

East Coast Amateur Boxing Club is an old school boxing club in Rockingham where the ring is the stage!  This is Halifax's most unique and intimate live music venue located at 225 Bedford Highway.  Parking is across the street in the flooring parking lot or up the street in Scotia Tire lot (please do not park next door at the realtors...they will give tickets).

Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8:00pm.  $15/pre-sale, $20/door.  Contact Melissa to secure your tickets.

We hope to see you there!
