Paul St-Amand & Michael Dalton at Compass

Thursday August 1 @ Compass Distillers, 2533 Agricola Street, Halifax

A jazz-folk cocktail awaits as trumpeter/singer Paul St-Amand teams with guitarist/singer Michael Dalton (a.k.a. Almasy). These frequent collaborators will trade tunes for three sets while you sample Compass Distillers' lineup of exceptional handcrafted spirits & bitters.

Paul St-Amand is known for his lyrical trumpet sound and expressive singing voice. He’s a member of the popular Latin ensemble Son Latino, and has performed with many of Halifax’s leading jazz, funk, and soul musicians. With his band Blue Spirits, Paul received a 2017 Music NS nomination for Jazz Recording of the Year.

Michael Dalton (Almasy) has built a sterling reputation for musicianship as frontperson and songwriter of Transatlantic Zodiac Ensemble and rhythm guitarist for Donald MacLennan’s Jazz Manouche project. Blending many diverse interests, his music bends the definition of what a folk song can be. Intricate guitar, powerful melody and tender detail are the pillars of his work.
