IV’s early history was spent practicing how to be a great turntablist, watching VHS tapes of his idols, collecting records and working tediously to perfect more scratch techniques to add to his arsenal. Establishing a name for himself through Dj battles which generated a buzz around Halifax, IV quickly gathering the interest of promoters & local MC’s which led to him co-founding the NOAffiliation Drum & Bass collective with Sammy D & Ming the Merciless of DJ Olympics fame. Being the new guy on the scene, placed in the downtown environment, IV rapidly adapted a party rocking format that was well respected by nightclub patrons, club owners and it respectively brought fear to other Dj’s when it came to competitions.
Creating a name associated with skills, IV started gaining recognition from more established artists. In 2003 he became the backbone for local legendary group Universal Soul, which led him to become familiar with being on the road and playing bigger stages outside of his hometown. This move parlayed him to becoming the Dj for Juno award winning recording artist Classified & the artists on his HalfLife Records label. With the momentum gaining traction by garnishing award nominations, awards & Dj battle victories, IV then ventured into creating his own brand by building a recording studio. Giving the younger generation of artists a platform through his IV League Studios imprint, it allowed him to produce artists & promote his own events to aid in building the foundation for those younger artists who continue to make waves on international stages today.
In 2023, IV celebrates his 24th year of Dj’ing, whether it’s performing around the globe with Classified, Universal Soul or subbing in as the Dj for artists like Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan, Shaquille O’Neil, Maestro Fresh Wes, Choclair, RA The Rugged Man, he continues to hold numerous Dj residencies across Atlantic Canada as well as artist bookings at Iconic downtown Halifax nightclub The Toothy Moose, he continues to record artists, create content for online purposes, graphic design & facilitating youth based programs, IV humbly gives back to the community that has embraced him for over 2 decades, becoming more involved behind the scenes to help curate unique events & larger scale opportunities to showcase local talent.
Going forward in 2023, if it’s on stage, in the studio, through mentorship, lessons, conversations, consulting or partnerships with other organizations, the mission stays the same as IV aims to educate and inspire younger generations, much like he was welcomed 20+ years ago, helping to aid and motivate aspiring artists to become the next Ambassadors of the East Coast’s music scene.
