Laura Roy is a Canadian artist, musician and Grammy-nominated songwriter who blends her influences of 70’s folk and 90’s r&b to create a unique and soulful sound. Describing her music as Alt-R&B and Cinematic Soul-Folk, Laura won the Canadian East Coast Music Award (ECMA) for “Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year” for her 2018 EP titled “Forte” and has since released two more soul-baring EP’s “Tides” and “Odyssey”. Born and raised in the small village of Canning, Nova Scotia, Laura is a graduate of the NSCC Music Arts program and 4-year participant of the Gordie Sampson Songwriting Camp. Currently based in London, UK, Laura has received support from both CBC and BBC radio, and has been selected for Spotify Editorial playlists including R&B Weekly, Chilled R&B, New Music Friday UK, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds R&B. She has been featured in Loop Magazine, Niche Music Japan and SOCAN Words & Music Magazine. She recently gained recognition as a songwriter on Doja Cat’s 2021 “Planet Her” Album for her contributions on “Alone” which gained her two Grammy nominations.
Laura has worked as a vocalist for various UK/US acts including, JP Cooper, Dua Lipa, Anne Marie, Camila Cabello, Mabel, Jack Garratt, Jordan Rakei, Quantic, Andreya Triana and Sam Ryder. She recently performed as a tour support for Elli Ingram and JP Cooper’s EU/UK 2023 tours and continues to blend genres and showcase her incredible songwriting and vocal versatility through her live performances and releases.
