Welcome to Skunk Motel; It’s loud as frig, messy as hell, and there’s always room for everyone. With hard-hitting drums, disarming vocals, and driving guitars, Skunk Motel paints an image of an 90s-punk-induced daydream. Through the use of captivating lyrics and moody melodies, the all-female onslaught forces you to navigate the twists & turns of turbulent emotions alongside them, offering you both a hug and a hand grenade. Led by Maya Taraschi on drums with Sarah Ellen Morrison on vocals, Sara Eve on Bass and Kate Bo on guitar.Skunk Motel is an alternative punk/grunge band from Halifax. Within their first year as a group, Skunk Motel has played showcases at Nova Scotia Music Week 2022, the Halifax Pride Queer Music Fest, and the East Coast Music Awards on both the Breakout and the Loud Stage. The band has been playing shows in Halifax and surrounding Nova Scotian cities and has sold-out venues like The Seahorse Tavern (300 capacity) The Steel City (210 capacity) and Gus’ Pub (150 capacity). Skunk Motel was awarded Gold for “Best Punk Band” in “The Coast’s Best Of” awards in 2024.
Some notable shows for the band include – opening for Cancer Bats (May 2023), a regional summer tour with Like A Motorcycle (July, August 2023), and playing the Centre 200 in Cape Breton in support of Sloan (July 2024).
The band currently has two Live Music Videos available on Youtube for their songs “Pretty Good for a Girl’ (October 2023) and “Look Like Me” (April 2023).
