
Music Nova Scotia Hosts “Stage Ready: Local Style, Global Impact” for International Women’s Day
(February 25, 2025 – Halifax/Kjipuktuk) Music Nova Scotia is pleased to announce “Stage Ready: Local Style, Global Impact,” an event to foster collaboration and artistic expression between local fashion designers and musicians for International Women’s Day. This event is made possible by FACTOR, the government of Canada, and Canada’s private radio broadcasters.
Taking place on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 11am – 3pm at The Sanctuary Arts Centre (100 Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth/Punamu’kwati’jk), the event will feature the following sessions:
11:00AM – 11:45AM: Fashion & Performance—Crafting Your Stage Identity
Hosted by Nicole Ariana with Maggie Jayne (Daytime People), Funmilayo Odeniyi (MichNat), Amie Cunningham (Thief and Bandit) and Jennifer Glass (JenIm), this panel discussion will cover:
- How fashion influences confidence and artistic branding
- The creative process behind designing performance-ready outfits
- Ethical and sustainable fashion choices for musicians
12:00PM – 1:30PM: Curated Styling Sessions with Local Designers
- Artists can book short one-on-one sessions with designers to get personalized advice on elevating their stage look.
- Each designer may showcase a small collection of stage-friendly pieces available for purchase or customization.
- Pre-register for these sessions here
1:00PM – 3:00PM: Build Your Personal Brand Vision Board
- Artists create a small vision board (physical or digital) to define their brand identity.
- Materials provided: Magazines, scissors, glue, markers, and QR codes for digital tools (e.g., Canva, Pinterest).
- Artists can share their boards at the end or take them home for continued inspiration.
- Bring your own vision boarding material for the group!
1:30PM – 3:00PM Wardrobe Swap & Vintage Pop-Up
- Artists are encouraged to bring gently used stagewear to swap with other musicians, making sustainable choices accessible
1:30PM – 3:00PM Content Creation Booth
- A mini studio set up by NSCC Photography Class where attendees can capture content
- Option for live styling adjustments with tips from designers.
