Music Nova Scotia is pleased to present the 2022 Annual Report, which can be viewed at any time online here.

Music Nova Scotia celebrated its most successful Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW) in 2021. NSMW 2021 hosted over 1,000 artists, domestic and international delegates, volunteers, partners, and fans, all while abiding by COVID-19 safety protocols. Ticket sales outperformed 2019, including a highlight of doubling delegate pass sales. Total impressions across the week amounted to 860K.

It was refreshing to have the Nova Scotia music community together again. Everyone present was thrilled by over 100 acts, with mixed musical genres across all stages, a first for the festival. Music Nova Scotia is excited to celebrate the 25th annual NSMW this year, November 3-6, in Sydney, Cape Breton.

MNS is in its second year of the three-year strategic plan laid out in 2021, “Community-Focused Recovery and Growth.” The goals for the organization as it continues to advocate for equitable recovery for the music sector are as follows:

  • Ensure our artists and industry members from equity-seeking groups have ongoing access to support.
  • Support the development and success of artists and music businesses through the COVID-19 recovery process.
  • Educate: help artists identify and attach to new revenue streams in a digital universe.
  • Diversify and develop new sources of funding.
