Music Nova Scotia in collaboration with Garrison Brewing is pleased to announce the comeback of New Music Thursday! New Music Thursday is an initiative to showcase Nova Scotian talent at Halifax’s oldest live music venue – the Seahorse Tavern. New Music Thursday will happen on the first Thursday of each month. Applications to showcase are open now.
Applications to perform are open now! Music Nova Scotia Members are encouraged to apply to perform. Applying does not guarantee a performance. It is free to submit.
To be eligible to apply for a performance at New Music Thursday:
You must be a current member of Music Nova Scotia.
You must be a resident of Nova Scotia*
If you are a group/band, at least fifty percent (50%) of group members must be residents of Nova Scotia
*a Nova Scotia resident is defined as a person who has lived in Nova Scotia for no less than one year prior to applying, or a person who was born in Nova Scotia and pays taxes in the province.

Set Length and Payment:
Payment and set length is based on billing.
1st – $100 & 20 min set
2nd – $150 & 20 min set
3rd – $250 & 30 min set
Headliner – $500 & 30 min set
Line-up is selected based on draw and marketability.

Short Bio (30 – 50 words)
Career Highlights (in point form)
Most recent or upcoming release // Please provide a streaming link to your most recent music.
Draw // Please provide MNS with the number of tickets you are capable of selling or bodies you’re able to put into a venue. Please be realistic and base off of your most recent performances.
Website and/or social media handles
Technical Notes // Briefly specify your technical and backline requirements.
Number of band members/performers on stage
Stage Plot // Please note that all submissions must have an up-to-date stage plot attached. If you do not have a stage plot please head to tecrider.com to build one. If you don’t know what a stage plot is, please contact dana@musicnovascotia.ca before submitting your application.
**Applications without a stage plot will not be accepted.
Other info:
To be considered for a showcase you must submit your application at least 4 weeks prior to the performance date with the exception of February 1st.
If you are not selected for a showcase, you do not need to submit again unless you are updating your application. Applications will be kept on file for all dates the applicant has selected they are interested in.
All selected performers will be provided with 1 guest list spot.
Selected performers will be offered a discount code to give out for advance ticket sales.
A drum kit will be provided when necessary.
All performers will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and other related expenses to participate/perform.
UNDERAGE PERFORMERS:
Underage performers must identify themselves in the application form and they must fill out an underage age artist form, be approved by Alcohol and Gaming, and provide 2037 Gottingen with the forms to countersign. The artists can be in the venue for their show with a legal guardian only, and must leave afterwards.
Applications will be reviewed by members of the Music Nova Scotia & 2037 Gottingen staff.
