Music Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit provincial industry association that encourages and supports the creation, development, growth, and promotion of Nova Scotia’s music industry. They do this by providing education, information, and resources to their members; by advocating for the industry to all levels of government and private sector; and by promoting the export of Nova Scotia music regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Job Overview


Responsible for overseeing Music Nova Scotia’s event portfolio, membership services, and international export initiatives. This role ensures the successful delivery of Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW), export programming, and industry events, while also strengthening member engagement, organizational operations, and strategic growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
Event Management & Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW)
  • Lead the planning and execution of all Music Nova Scotia events, including NSMW, export initiatives, and special projects in conjunction with the Executive Director
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, logistics, and staffing
  • Oversee showcasing, registration, ticketing, and customer experience
  • Coordinate production for showcases and conference venues
  • Lead the Music Nova Scotia Awards program and show
  • Supervise staff, contractors, and volunteers
  • Maintain and update NSMW systems, processes, and documentation
  • Assist with financial tracking, invoicing, and program administration
  • Maintain efficient systems, documentation, and workflows
  • Support professional development, networking, and member-focused initiatives
  • Support execution of any special events/projects led by community partners
Export
  • Execute International Business Development Plan in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Identify and activate new export opportunities and markets
  • Represent Music Nova Scotia at key events locally, nationally, and internationally as needed
  • Contribute to funding applications and reporting as needed
  • Oversee marketing and communications strategy for events and initiatives
Membership & Industry Engagement
  • Oversee membership services, including recruitment, retention, and communications
  • Manage the membership database and reporting
  • Serve as a key point of contact for member inquiries and engagement
  • Support professional development, networking, and member-focused initiatives
Qualifications:
  • 3 – 5+ years experience in event management, arts administration, or a related field
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience managing budgets, partnerships, and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Familiarity with the music industry and export development is an asset
  • Experience with CRM systems, Google Workspace, and event platforms
  • Must be able to travel internationally, and holds an up to date passport
Working Conditions
  • Hours: Full-time position, with evening and weekend work required during events
  • Location: Hybrid work environment based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Travel required for export initiatives and industry events
  • Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000, commensurate with experience
